Born on September 12, 2020, Cariad Fidget is more than just a Boerboel; she is the embodiment of our 10-year dedication to perfecting the breed. A short, wide, and big-boned female, Fidget stands at approximately 53cm tall, boasting a very deep and wide muzzle, a deep skull, and a perfect scissor bite. Her conformation is exceptional, with a great crest of neck, well-developed muscles, excellent muscle connection from neck to shoulder, a well-developed chest with correct prosternum, and a sprung rib cage. Her feet are very correct and ball-shaped, and her front and rear angulation are extremely good. With a good wide topline that slopes gently to the back, a perfect tail set, and a perfect pelvic angle with a good turn of stifle, Fidget truly exemplifies the Boerboel standard, with the judge at a recent show only noting her ears and muzzle as minor deviations.

* Cariad Rowdy's dam was Cariad Rebel, whose sire was Cariad Riot. Cariad Riot was also a champion, known for his excellent health, with BVA hip score of 12 and elbow score of 0/0. He was free of heart and eye problems, including glaucoma, and lived to the remarkable age of 12.

Our Unique Approach to Health: A 17-Year Commitment
Cariad Fidget represents the culmination of a 10-year plan dedicated to addressing and improving health and fertility within our lines, specifically targeting issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia, epilepsy, allergies, and hereditary glaucoma.
At Cariad Boerboels, we hold a deep understanding of canine anatomy and health. We have developed a unique and honest approach to assessing hip and elbow health, as we no longer put our dogs under anesthetic for X-rays due to past concerns about the risks involved. We are confident in our ability to discern excellent joint health through our extensive knowledge and experience.
Our commitment to health is further demonstrated by:
* Genetic Disease Clearance: Fidget herself is clear of any genetic diseases, a fact confirmed by the DNA testing of her sister.
* Eradication of Eye Problems: Through diligent gonioscopy tests and selective breeding over the years, we have successfully eradicated eye problems, including glaucoma, from our lines.
* Heart Health: For 17 years, our foundation dogs have been clear of heart problems, and every one of the 30 Boerboels that have gone to new owners from Cariad Boerboels has never experienced a heart problem.
This proactive and experienced-based approach ensures that we are continually striving for the healthiest possible Boerboels.
Temperament Beyond Compare: Fidget, The Pack Leader
Fidget truly embodies the outstanding temperament that Cariad Boerboels is known for. She is the undisputed pack leader of our 30 Boerboels, most of whom run together freely throughout the day. Her demeanor is consistently calm, cool, and collected, a testament to her inherent stability and the harmonious environment she helps create.
Her exceptional temperament extends beyond our own pack. Fidget plays a major, invaluable role in our work fostering and rehabilitating troubled and abandoned Boerboels from other bloodlines and kennels, including Ak Boerboels, Colossus Boerboels, and Noxterra Boerboels. These dogs often arrive unstable, and Fidget's calm leadership helps them find balance and confidence, enabling us to assess them and find them loving, permanent homes.
One of her most notable contributions was with Colossus Esco, a 3-year-old adult male Boerboel who was severely troubled by trainers who misunderstood the breed. Esco spent three months with us, and with Fidget's influence, he transformed, eventually moving to the USA to become a stud dog and now living a very happy life.
Fidget's gentle and affectionate nature was recently on full display at a show, where a long-term member of the UKBC fell in love with her, taking her for a walk and receiving "lots of kisses and smiles" from Fidget. As one of our owners beautifully put it, "They all are fantastic, until you actually own a Cariad Boerboel you will never understand the outstanding temperament, loyalty and stability of these gentle giants. Bringing love, stupidity and safety into our home and life." Fidget perfectly exemplifies this sentiment, proving that our Boerboels are not just guardians, but cherished family members.
